The Dilemma

Diego and Jae are in their school's computer lab working on a group project. Diego has just received a brand-new, top-of-the-line gaming laptop from his parents as a reward for his good grades. Jae, who is using an older, slower computer, compliments Diego on his new laptop. As they work, Diego notices Jae struggling with the slow speed of his computer, which is affecting their project progress. Diego feels proud of his new possession but also values the quality of their work and Jae's friendship. He considers offering Jae his laptop to use for the project, knowing it would speed things up and show his generosity. However, he also enjoys the admiration and status his new laptop brings him. Diego now faces a choice: (A) offer Jae his laptop for the project, because generosity and teamwork matter more than a possession, or (B) keep his laptop and suggest Jae use the school computers, because it is a gift from his parents and he is responsible for taking care of it.
